Windows 11 notification banners not appearing?
First check whether the message reaches the app itself. If it does but no banner appears, compare Notification Center, Do not disturb and that app's notification settings. Do not reset the computer or allow notifications from every website.

Safe checking order
- Choose one familiar app. Arrange a harmless test message with a willing sender, without personal information. Keep the computer awake and connected. Record three separate observations: message in the app, entry in Notification Center, and pop-up banner. Do not use an urgent message as a test.
- Open Notification Center with Windows + N. An entry there distinguishes delivery from banner display. Do not clear the center before recording your observations. A missing old entry alone does not prove a delivery failure.
- Open Settings > System > Notifications. Review Do not disturb and its automatic conditions. Test at a quiet moment without a full-screen app or duplicated display. Change only the relevant condition, then restore your preferred quiet settings.
- Also check System > Focus. A running focus session can turn on Do not disturb. End your own session for the test. If Do not disturb was already on beforehand, it can remain on after the session ends.
- On the Notifications page, check the overall permission and this app's banner setting. Compare the app's own notification settings too. Leave other apps alone. Request a new test message after each change; an old notification is not a reliable retest.
- If the message is absent inside the app too, investigate the account connection and app sync first. If only one app fails, save work and reopen it normally. If several apps fail, save all work before a normal Windows restart.
Symptoms and possible causes
JVS Tuki checklist: message in app but no banner → inspect presentation; entry in the center → compare quiet modes; only one app fails → focus there; message missing everywhere → investigate delivery. Missing sound alone is a different symptom from a missing notification. This comparison narrows the problem; it is not a definitive diagnosis.
What not to do
- Do not allow an unfamiliar website to send notifications just to test this.
- Do not edit the registry, disable protection or install notification repair tools.
- Do not post a screenshot of Notification Center: it may contain private messages.
When to stop
If settings are managed by an organisation, ask its administrator; do not bypass controls. If several apps still fail after a restart, record their names and the three test observations for support. Until verified, do not rely on banners alone for important deadlines.
Where did the test message appear?
Your answer is neither sent nor stored.
When is help worthwhile?
JVS Tuki can help distinguish app delivery issues from Windows notification settings while preserving quiet settings that are useful to you.
