Bosch Smart Home update puts heating, automations and Matter reliability to a practical test

Bosch released a substantial Smart Home update on 14 July. It adds demand-based heating, chained automations, more precise notification routing and Matter bridge fixes. The benefit depends on the device setup, and users should verify critical settings after updating.

What does the update add?

Home+ gains automatic hydraulic balancing for Radiator Thermostat II [+M] devices and demand-based heating for compatible Bosch or Buderus heat pumps. One automation can now trigger another, while push notifications can be routed to selected phones or tablets.

Security and interoperability also change

Eyes II cameras can act as visual and audible signalling devices in the alarm system. Bosch fixed Matter bridge reconnection after restarts, Apple Home naming problems and general bridge stability. The controller update also includes important security updates.

Why does this matter?

The practical improvement is not another button but finer control over heating, alerts and automation logic. Chained automations can reduce duplicated rules, but they can also allow one configuration error to affect a wider workflow.

What should users check?

Record critical automations before updating. Afterwards, verify Matter device status and notification recipients, then test alarm and heating functions in a controlled way. Check device-specific compatibility as the new heating functions do not apply to every thermostat or heat pump.

Availability in Finland

The Smart Home Controller rollout began on 14 July and Bosch expects full availability on 15 July. Android and iOS app versions are due to roll out between 22 and 29 July; the Android release adds full Android 16 support.
