Smart TV keeps buffering even though the internet is fast
Do not begin with a factory reset or a new router. First play the same title in the same service on a phone beside the TV, then check whether one TV app or every TV app buffers. Those two comparisons usually separate a service problem, the television, the TV's Wi-Fi link and the whole home network.

Quick comparison test
- Play the same title in the same streaming service on a phone or laptop beside the TV and on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Try another reputable streaming app on the TV. If only one app buffers, check that service's status and app update first.
- Restart the app and the television. Restart the router only when several apps or devices are affected.
- Open the TV's network status and run a speed test on the TV itself if an app or browser is available. A phone test does not measure the TV's connection.
- Temporarily try Ethernet or a phone hotspot. Do not leave the mobile test running because it can consume your data allowance.
- Install TV system and app updates. Clear only the app cache first if the device offers that option and you have the sign-in details.
Why is fast internet not enough?
A fast subscription does not guarantee a steady connection at the television. The TV may be farther from the router, behind metal or furniture, on another band, or have a weaker Wi-Fi radio than a phone. If one service buffers while others work, the app or service may be responsible. YouTube estimates that 4K needs about 20 Mbps of sustained speed, while Netflix recommends at least 15 Mbps for 4K; in practice, consistency matters more than one peak result.
What not to do
- Do not factory-reset first. It removes apps and sign-ins but cannot repair weak Wi-Fi or a service outage.
- Do not change DNS, firewall or router settings from random instructions. Change one item at a time and record the original value.
- Do not buy an extender or router before the Ethernet or hotspot comparison. A badly placed extender can make the link worse.
- Do not open the TV cabinet. Its power supply can retain dangerous voltage after unplugging.
When to stop
Stop self-testing if the TV switches off or restarts by itself, becomes unusually hot, smells burnt, or loses its network even over Ethernet. If every home device slows at the same time, record the time and test results and check the operator's outage status before arranging TV repair.

When is help worthwhile?
JVS Tuki can separate a television, app and home-network fault, measure the connection at the TV and check settings before you buy more equipment.
