The printer says Offline even though it is on
Do not start by buying a new printer. First isolate the print queue, Wi-Fi or USB link, Windows status and the Print Spooler service.

Short answer: run these checks
- Check the printer display for paper, cover, ink or toner warnings.
- Make sure the computer and Wi-Fi printer use the same network; with USB, try another port.
- Open the print queue and cancel old stuck jobs.
- Clear Use Printer Offline if that option is selected.
- Restart printer and PC; on Windows 11 try the Get Help printer troubleshooter.
- If it persists, restart Print Spooler before removing the printer or driver.
The symptom narrows the cause
Offline can be caused by the printer, network, queue or Windows print service.

Safe Windows path
- Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners: open the printer and inspect the queue.
- In the queue, open Printer and make sure Use Printer Offline is not selected.
- Search for Services, select Print Spooler and restart the service.
- Download a driver only from the printer maker's official support site if Windows repair is not enough.
What not to do
- Do not remove the printer or reset settings before checking the queue and offline mode.
- Do not weaken Wi-Fi security just to make a printer connect.
- Do not clear the spool folder while an important unsaved job is queued.
- Stop if the device is hot, smells burnt or has liquid damage.
