Laptop screen flickers
First check whether Task Manager flickers too. If only the rest of the screen flickers, an incompatible app is often involved; if everything flickers, the display driver is a stronger suspect.

Quick checklist
- Press Windows + Ctrl + Shift + B and see whether the picture recovers.
- Open Ctrl + Shift + Esc. Does Task Manager flicker with the rest of the screen?
- Disconnect an external display or dock and test without new peripherals.
- If it began after an update, use the manufacturer's official driver or roll back the previous one.
- If only one app flickers, update or remove that app before changing the driver.
The symptom narrows the cause
The Task Manager test often separates a driver problem from an app problem. Flicker in BIOS or on an external display points more toward hardware or a connection.

What not to do
- Do not install random drivers or use Display Driver Uninstaller without a recovery path.
- Do not change many display settings at once without recording the originals.
- If the panel is cracked, hot or physically damaged, stop home testing.
